Sustainable Mushroom Cultivation in Lama Upazilla

About the Project

The Lama Green Hub is a pioneering initiative of the Lama Development Foundation (LDF) that focuses on creating sustainable, inclusive, and community-driven green enterprises in Lama, Bandarban.

One of the key pilot programs under this hub is the Mushroom Cultivation Project, which combines sustainable agriculture with women empowerment and local entrepreneurship. The project aims to transform environmental awareness into economic opportunity — particularly for rural women who aspire to contribute to their families and communities through eco-friendly farming.

Objectives

• To promote digital and sustainable agriculture practices through mushroom cultivation.

• To empower local women by providing hands-on training, technical support, and market access.

• To encourage the use of renewable and low-cost resources for small-scale agribusiness.

• To build a green and circular local economy aligned with LDF’s vision of “Sustainable Community, Green Future.”

Integration with LDF’s Women Empowerment Program

Through this project, LDF has successfully empowered a local woman entrepreneur, training her to manage, harvest, and market mushroom production independently. This approach not only enhances household income but also establishes women as active agents of change in the sustainable development process.

Impact:

The pilot project has demonstrated that sustainability and empowerment can go hand in hand. It has:
